Pete: You are close but no cigar. Higher mixed alcohol ENVIROLENE® (E4) produced by GTL methods of catalytic synthesis is NOT either methanol nor is it DiMethyl Ether (DME), a cleaner burning substitute for bottled propane.

The E4 higher mixed alcohol formula is a synthetic blend of six, eight or ten separate alcohols which are n = normal, straight chained alcohol molecules to include:

C1 methanol, C2 (synthetic, not fermented) ethanol, C3 n-propanol, C4 n-butanol, C5 n-pentanol, C6 n-hexanol, C7 n-heptanol, C8 n-octanol, C9 n-nanonol and C10 n-decanol.

Appreciating your enthusiasm. Thanks.

I just read your story in the Ravalli paper and jumped 6 inches straight up from my chair...because I knew exactly what you are proposing to do. You're talking methanol and dimethyl ether as a high-cetane clean burning substitute for diesel - exactly what needs to happen in the Bitterroot (and nationwide). I can't tell you how excited I am to see this possibility taking shape! My home address is in Victor, but I have been on an extended visit to western MA and will return in the spring. I have 2 books that you undoubtedly know of - Energy Victory by Robert Zubrin, and Beyond Oil and Gas: The Methanol Economy by George Olah et al...necessary books I believe to know what's going on. Good luck! I'll be back and check you out in May or so. Pete
